I am always interested in Betfair's prices not only compared to what you can get at bookies SP but how they are affected by the number of people using them.

If you think about it….

…When you see a system and the results you are looking at them as an outsider.

Your not involved so you are not influencing the price.

So if you do decide to follow a system using real money what happens?

Well you have an influence on the market…

It may be a tiny influence but you are affecting the market.

Who knows by how much?

Ok maybe on a firm favourite you may not have much influence (unless you are putting £1000’s in to the market) but if you are on an outsider any amount of money matched could make a difference to the price.

So what you ask?

Well systems can be far more price sensitive than you may imagine and even a few points change in the average price can make a difference and actually turn a profitable system into a negative.

Here is an excerpt I did in a report earlier…

-----------------------------------------------
We saw strike rate lower a little but Looking at the average price we can see where things have been going wrong.

279 winners at 5.10 (old average price)  = 1422 – 1180(losers) = 242 points (Around 170.9 points after commission)
279 winners at 4.50 (new average price)  = 1255 – 1180(losers) = 75 points (Around 12.25 after commission)
-----------------------------------------------------

As you can see just a small change can make a big difference.

And the above are from a system where only 25 to 50 people were using it.

It’s not the first time I have seen it in fact it was watching a laying system a while back first convinced me that even a small number of users effect the price.

That’s why I recently added a new feature to the SPB System Builder to see what effect prices will have on your system.

I call it simply “Pressure” and after identifying a potential profitable system you can add a % of “Pressure” to the prices to see what affect it has on the profitability of the system.

So in the case of back selections it will drive the prices down by that % and in the case of lays it will drive the price up.

I think how the number of users using a system affects the price is generally ignored especially by people who create systems for others to use.

SPB System Builder users no longer have to rely on the middle men any more to create profitable systems and now they can even see how a change in price can affect their profit.

I bet many of them will be a lot less reluctant to share their systems now.

Thank you as always for reading I really appreciate it.
